Hello, my name is Dan.
I am first and foremost a strategist – but I’m also a speaker, trainer, programmer, designer, copywriter and video maker. I am unquestionably your go to guy if you want to crush it on Amazon

Not a big fan of

Moon Pies…

Dan was a heavy weight from DAY 1, making his worldly debut at 10 lb. 11 oz. in the small southern town of Mobile Alabama. This is the place where the famous battle cry, “Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!” was first bellowed in the waters of Mobile Bay, “Moon Pies” are thrown from Mardi Gras floats (by the way, don’t eat them, they taste awful!) and the film “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” was filmed there (it’s a crazy place, no doubt). Dan did manage to escape and now lives in an even crazier place where the rivers have no water and the land is ruled by gila monsters and wild javelina (Tucson AZ, if you’re curious).

Today, Dan is 13 times the man he used to be according to a cheap bathroom scale he bought on Amazon… and he keeps himself busy helping people sell stuff online. Oh yes he tried other things first, like teaching classical guitar at the University of Illinois, The College of DuPage and in the back alleys of Chicago. Tired of being flat broke, for a while Dan started selling and teaching real estate. He even did a short stint in the flea market business. But like vinyl records, fleas were on a downward spiral.

As luck would have it…

Al Gore finally invented the internet, Steve Jobs invented the Apple Computer and Jeff Bezos invented the Amazon.

This trifecta was like a Close Encounters of the Third Kind all over again! The die had been cast and like Francisco de Orellana, Dan set sail to discover the great mysteries of the Amazon (some how he missed the hoards of gold and cinnamon and of encounters with tribes led by women resembling the Amazons of Greek mythology – but he’s still looking).

Many people think Dan is one of the top marketers on the planet (ie: earth). There is even a book sold on Amazon where the author tries to validate this “unearthly” claim: Internet Prophets (full disclosure, that is an affiliate link and all the proceeds go to the “Save a Moon Pie Association”). Some people point to the $300 million dollar mega-hit movie/book “The Secret(save your money – just because it’s linked does not mean you should buy it) that Dan along with a little help from Oprah helped launch some years ago.

Others point to all of the training programs and marketing tools Dan has created – yes, literally hundreds of thousands have learned marketing from Dan and over 20,000 Amazon sellers have attended his coaching programs. Dan has even somehow bamboozled Amazon itself (bamboozled?) to send him clients.

When asked how Dan became so skilled at marketing, copywriting, making videos, photoshop, programming, design, and music… his answer is mind-blowing:

“I was too cheap to hire help, so I taught myself!”

But don’t be fooled! Every day your inbox is filled with very convincing opportunities, wealth building claims, marketing loopholes of the rich & infamous, and irresistible emails from Nigeria. How can you be sure of anything anymore. How can you take your yourself, your product, or your business to the top ranks of success in the shark filled waters of the internet? That’s a great question!

Dan’s answer is simple. Stop reading emails and don’t go swimming.

Instead… call Dan Hollings.

Well better yet, just Skype or email Dan, he rarely answers his phone anyways.

PONDERABLE MARKETING QUOTES

I'm often asked if I used the 'Law of Attraction' in my marketing strategy for the smash hit movie, THE SECRET. The answer is, if I did, it was by accident, for in reality I prefer another law often touted by Henry Ford known as the 'Law of the Chicken`` which states: ``Business is never so healthy as when, like a chicken, it must do a certain amount of scratching for what it gets.`` When launching an internet campaign, I recommend a little of the former and a lot of the latter.
Many people think that mentioning a home page web address to radio, TV or print is good marketing. These same people might just as well add 9 zero's on a $1 bill and try getting their bank to hand over a million bucks. It's not adding a web address that matters, it's bridging your potential customer to the next logical step in your marketing path.
Mr Online and Mr Offline are sitting in a bar discussing their various marketing tactics when in walks the young, voluptuous Miss Mobile; after a few drinks they strike up a conversation. ``Hey, why not come over to Myspace and we can Google together`` says Mr. Online. Immediately Mr. Offline pipes in, ``Hey, forget that, I can get you on billboards or perhaps a magazine spread.`` Totally unimpressed, Miss Mobile strolls to the door, turning to say, ``Sorry guys, it sounds like neither of you are in to TEXT.``
There are very few real secrets when it comes to marketing things online, in fact, the real secret is where the darn secrets are hidden... hint: regardless of what system, tool, or program you are using click ``help, FAQs or tutorials;`` that's where they hide the secrets.
The most important thing a marketer can possess is a good review or testimonial, and there are only two reasons why you might not have a bounty of these on hand: 1) your product or service stinks or 2) you're not asking.
What's the primary difference between marketing on the internet and mobile marketing? It's not size, it's not connection speed, it's really not anything related to the mobile device; rather it's what's going on in your prospects mind at that 'mobile moment' where they find themselves. Figure that out and your marketing strategy is on solid ground.

PONDERABLE AMAZON QUOTES

There are three things I know are very hard to do: 1) get elected president 2) become an Astronaut and walk on the moon and 3) sell products on Amazon. The funny thing is, after achieving number three the first two don't seem quite as hard.
I once dreamed of making a million dollars selling products on Amazon; Fast forward a few years, I'm not sure why I set my goals so low.
Achieving success on Amazon is like climbing Mt Everest. You can't do it without a Sherpa, supplies, oxygen tanks, protection from the elements and map to the top. I see people everyday trying to climb the ranks in their bermuda shorts, what's up with that?
Amazon is like the weather, if you call and don't get the answer you like, wait 10 minutes and call back. The answer won't be any better, but maybe the storm will have passed on its own.
Amazon (defined)... the most wonderfully awful delightfully challenging and awesomely frustrating great place to (maybe) sell products in this lifetime. Just wish I didn't have to wait til my next life!
Want to sell a lot of products online? You can fish among the millions of ready-to-buy customers at Amazon or try building a river in your own back yard.
Amazon is like a river of fish. The secret to catching these fish lies largely in the bait you use not the boat in which you sit.
